Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition will be released on June 5, 2025, the same day as the release date of Nintendo Switch 2. It is an open-world action-adventure RPG in which the main character "V" throws himself into a battle for survival.

And in this game, there are multiple new ways to play unique to Switch 2, such as motion control, gyro sensor, and mouse sensor. In this article, I tried to check the functional aspects by actually playing it.

Motion operation to recover, mouse operation to aim!

Immediately, connect it to the monitor and play in TV mode. First of all, try motion operation and gyro sensor mode with two hands.

To use performance mode (1080p, up to 40fps) in TV mode, you need a monitor that supports a response speed of 120Hz or higher. In quality mode, it is 1080p at a maximum of 30fps.

Motion operation is a system that allows you to perform various actions such as dodging and reloading by gesturing with Joy-Con 2. In the "Rescue" job at the beginning of the main game, the function is unlocked by playing the tutorial.

On the setting screen, there is also an item for the procontroller.

On the left controller, twist to dodge, and quickly flip backwards to heal. With the right controller, twisting to reload, swinging left or right for melee light attacks, and swinging down from above for heavy attacks. In addition, it is also possible to disable only the melee motion operation in the settings.

I like this underground and deadly atmosphere.

It can be reloaded and healed intuitively, which is especially useful in intense combat. Melee attacks react even with a slight swing, so you need to get used to them. The unfamiliar author is buzzing...... You want to finish off your enemies in a cool way.

Next is the gyro sensor. It detects the tilt of the Joy-Con 2 and moves the viewpoint in the game. In addition, it is possible to set the gyro in detail not only when using a long-range weapon, but also only when aiming.

Personally, I prefer to turn on the gyro sensor only while aiming. The R stick is used to aim to some extent, and fine-tuning is done with the gyro, which is used as an aid to aim.

Always look around the city with the gyro sensor on. Exploration is fun, but combat is difficult if you're not used to the controls.

In addition, there is an aim assist item in accessibility, so it is recommended to set it together to make headshots easier to aim and improve the comfort of combat.

Aim assist should be weak or standard. I use it as a standard.

Next is the mouse sensor. The Joy-Con 2 can be operated as if it were a mouse, which is a new feature that appeared on the Switch 2. In Cyberpunk 2077, you can use the right controller as a mouse. The R button (left click) was used to shoot, and the ZR button (right click) was used to make a grenade.

When the mouse sensor is enabled, the gyro sensor and motion control are automatically disabled.

As for the feeling, it's almost a mouse, so it's very easy to aim ......! The viewpoint can also be moved widely, making it easy to operate without the frustration of stick operation. It also feels good to vibrate when you shoot.

The Joy-Con 2 strap has a kind of sole that makes it slippery, so wear it when operating the mouse.

You can hear the hustle and bustle of Night City clearly and feel immersive.

Finally, you can also play in handheld mode. Compared to the Nintendo Switch, the Switch 2 has a clearer speaker quality, and the ambient sounds and hustle and bustle of Night City can be heard clearly. The screen is 7.9 inches, which is big, so it's easy to see.

The performance mode in handheld mode is 720p at up to 40 FPS. The quality mode is 1080p and 30FPS, just like the TV mode.

The speaker also supports stereoscopic sound. Even if you don't have a special environment, you can enjoy a sense of realism as if you can hear the sound from all directions. In the dialogue scenes of the characters, it feels like they are coming from the left when they are spoken to from the left, and from the right when they are spoken to from the right, so the sense of immersion is very high.

In handheld mode, you can control items such as cyberware, inventory, maps, and characters by touching, swiping, and pinching in and out. Just like motion operation, this is also convenient because it can be moved intuitively.

I ......never thought that the day would come when I would be able to play this game, which had high recommended specs and played a role as benchmark software, on Switch 2.

I also verified the battery life. After a 30-minute gutsy replay, it consumed 24%. If you convert it to 1 hour, it is about 50%, or about 2 hours. According to the official description, the battery life is about 2~6.5 hours, so it can be said that the number is as announced.

In terms of heat generation, the back is slightly warm. In addition, the heat does not reach the two parts of the Joy-Con that are gripped, so it should not be a problem while playing. The loading time on fast travel is about 16 seconds. It was about 10 seconds in TV mode.

Personally, I felt good about aiming and vibrating with the mouse sensor. However, the reloading and recovery of motion controls was also convenient, so to be honest, it ...... hard to beat.

And on June 26, 2025, the latest update 2.3 will be released. Although the details have not been announced at the time of writing (June 19), Update 2.2, which was released in December 2024, actually brought a major update, such as a new makeup, a new livery for the vehicle, a new photo mode, and Johnny appearing in the passenger seat from time to time.
