Helldivers 2 has heroically shed 85% of its PC file size, dropping from a majestic 154GB to something that no longer requires its own dedicated SSD. Apparently the studio finally got around to removing all the duplicated assets they stacked in there like digital hoarders.
The catch? If you’re still running the game on a mechanical HDD, congratulations: your loading times may now be ten times slower. Yes, in exchange for reclaiming a small country’s worth of disk space, your hard drive will now wheeze, sputter, and pray to survive every mission load.
So the game is finally slimmer, cleaner, and more efficient—unless you’re living in 2009 storage tech, in which case the game will happily punish you for daring to save money.
