Capcom has proudly announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has now reached four million players, which is a remarkable milestone — especially for a game fans are increasingly convinced the studio forgot existed immediately after launch.
The celebratory post, plastered with shiny artwork, thanked “the four million Arisen around the world,” and warmly reminded everyone that “freedom and adventure await.” A touching sentiment… especially coming from a team that has offered players absolutely no new reason to return since 2023.
Predictably, the community’s reaction was less “Congrats, Capcom!” and more “Okay, that’s nice — where’s our DLC?”
Responses poured in, all echoing the same desperate tune:
-
“Post-launch support, hello?”
-
“Any updates at all?”
-
“Have you… given up?”
Fans are basically standing in Capcom’s doorway holding torches like villagers asking Frankenstein for a roadmap.
And who can blame them? The first Dragon’s Dogma eventually got the Dark Arisen expansion — a massive overhaul that turned the game from a shaky 7/10 experiment into something fans still rave about. Naturally, players assumed the sequel would get similar treatment rather than being left in a content freezer.
Unfortunately, the DLC fairy might not be visiting this time. The series’ longtime director, Hideaki Itsuno, exited Capcom last year after three decades. He’s now leading LightSpeed Japan Studio, presumably working on new games that will actually be supported after launch.
Capcom, meanwhile, continues to insist everything’s fine while offering players a perfectly consistent post-release schedule of… silence.
So yes, four million Arisen is impressive.
But with no DLC, no updates, and the director gone, fans are starting to wonder if Dragon’s Dogma 2’s biggest fantasy is the idea of long-term support.
